Patricia Marie Cooney

Patricia Marie Cooney, 58, of East Hartford, passed away Thursday August 19, 2010. She was born March 10, 1952 in Hartford, the daughter of Rachel (Morrison) Cooney of East Hartford and the late William Oliver Cooney. She was a 1970 graduate of East Hartford High School. While in high school she worked part time at Hartford Hospital. Following high school she entered into the U. S. Army, where she attended the U. S. Army Dental Assistant School and the U. S. Army Leadership School. She worked as a dental assistant before becoming disabled and retiring from the Army in 1976. Patricia enjoyed photography, listening to music, painting by number and watching television. Including her mother, Patricia is survived by two brothers, Harold D. Cooney of Belle Plaine, KS and Robert J. Cooney and his wife Laurie and their children Will and Meredith of Lunenburg, MA; a nephew Shane Whitney and his wife Nicki and their daughter Jasmine of New York and a niece Christine Whitney and her children Lucy and Damion of East Hartford. She was predeceased by a brother William B. Cooney, and a sister Joanne Whitney.
Funeral services were Monday August 23 with military honors in the veteran's section at Silver Lane Cemetery. Memorials to Patricia may be made to VACT Health Care System, Volunteer Services, 555 Willard Ave., Newington, CT 06111, ATTN: Intensive Day Treatment Program. www.desopo.com.
