EH Summer Youth Festival welcomes musical theater back with special fundraising Grange Hall performances Nov 13 & 14

East Hartford Summer Youth Festival Announces an Upcoming Production of Music Theatre International’s “All Together Now!: A Global Event” celebrating local performances in-person and livestream November 13 and 14.

A fantastic selection of songs are planned in this brand new music revue from best-loved Broadway shows such as Rent, Les Misérables, Into the Woods, Fiddler on the Roof, The Baker’s Wife, Waitress, Godspell, and many more!

Best of all the East Hartford Summer Youth Festival will join some 2,500 theatrical organizations from over 40 nations around the globe who will do over 5,500 performances, producing their own local versions of the show. The theatrical licensor of many of the musicals EHSYF performed in the past, MTI, or Music Theatre International, created the special global revue for local troupes to use as a local fundraiser. EHSYF’s performances will be Nov. 13 at 7 p.m., and Nov. 14 at 2 p.m.

Don’t miss seeing the first production directed by Patrick Connolly, son of beloved past Director of the EHSYF, the late Joe Connolly. He will be joined by another first-timer as EHSYF Musical Director, Kevin Huynh. Choreographer is the talented Amanda Ackley with Costume Coordinator the impeccable Ellen Parker.

The all-star cast includes many talented performers greater East Hartford, returning cast as well as never-before heard musical performances by faces totally new to EHSYF!

“All Together Now!” includes numbers from the beloved catalogue of MTI musical productions including Come From Away, Fiddler on the Roof, Godspell, Guys and Dolls, Into the Woods, Les Misérables, Rent, Waitress and many more!

MTI’s President and CEO, Drew Cohen stated, “MTI’s All Together Now! is about bringing people back to the theatre, whether as audience members or cast, crew and musicians. The revue features songs from the world’s most iconic musicals, so there is definitely something for everyone to enjoy. Our goal with this worldwide event is for organizations to provide hope, inspiration and excitement to their communities through the transformative power of musical theatre.”

“This month,” shares EHSYF President/Producer, Greer Cunningham-Pattison, “after a long hiatus from live theater due to the pandemic, we are thrilled to get back to doing what we love: Sharing this beloved art form with the community! MTI has given us a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to raise funds for our non-profit theater by putting on a beautiful show, and we are doing so in a way that we think maximizes the magic of live musical theater while prioritizing the health and safety of our cast and audience.

“To that end, we will admit a small in-person audience at the Grange Hall and we will also livestream the performances so nobody has to miss out on the fun!”

The show will be performed at the historic Hillstown Grange hall, 617 Hills St., East Hartford. Parking and admission is limited so get your tickets as soon as possible if you want to be there.

“A huge thank you to Michelle DeDominicis, Hillstown Grange President, and longtime stage-mom and member of EHSYF, for allowing us to use this historic facility.”

Cunningham-Pattison added “We could not do what we do without the support of the community – especially our audiences, many individual donors, East Hartford’s Fine Arts Commission, the generosity of Mayor Marcia Leclerc, EH Public Schools and Parks & Rec, The Gazette, and small business owners such as Shari Boyaji, owner of the Glastonbury Dance Center.”

For the first time since its founding in 1964, the non-profit East Hartford Summer Youth Festival was forced to cancel its musical production in 2020 due to the pandemic.

“This a celebration of both a return to live musical theater and a love letter to the members and supporters who have kept us going since 1964. We dedicate these performances, as well, in memory of two cherished members of the EHSYF family, the late Joseph Connolly and Murry Phillips.”
