Don’t forget your pet: All dog licenses expire June 30

Following in the wake of offering a low-cost/no-cost rabies vaccination clinic May 21, the Town Clerk reminds all dog owners that June is Connecticut dog license renewal month.

By state law, all dogs over 6 months old must have a license in the city or town where they reside. Dog licenses expire every June 30. A $1 per month late fee applies after July 1. To license or renew a license you must provide the Town Clerk’s office with a copy of current rabies certificate which you will get at the clinic as well as a copy of the Spayed/ Neutering certificate, if not already on record with the town.

Annual dog license for a Spayed or Neutered dog is $8; $19 if NOT spayed or neutered. There is also a 50 cent fee for replacement of a lost dog tag.

Pet owners in East Hartford may visit the Town Clerk’s first floor office in Town Hall, 740 Main St., to license or renew a dog license. Or download the dog license form from the East Hartford Town Clerk’s website, complete and mail with a self-addressed, stamped envelope and a check made payable to “East Hartford Town Clerk”.
