Access Health benefits now offered to adults with no kids needing non-emergency transport

Access Health CT (AHCT) has expanded eligibility requirements for the state’s “Covered Connecticut” program to adults without children as of July 1, the state Dept. of Social Services has announced.

Offering free health insurance to parents and caretaker relatives who meet eligibility requirements, “Covered Connecticut” now offers dental coverage and non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) benefits starting July 1. Once enrolled, it will pay insurance companies directly as well as deductibles, co-pays, co-insurance and maximum out-of-pocket costs.

Chief Executive Officer of AHCT, James Michel, noted the application process is open anytime for residents who have not enrolled before. “Residents who qualify do not have to wait until Open Enrollment to apply – they can do it today,” he stated in the announcement from Avon-based public relations firm Mitz + Hoke. Connecticut residents must have a household income up to and including 175 percent of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), not qualify for HUSKY Health/Medicaid because of their income; be eligible for financial help including Advance Premium Tax Credits (APTCs) and Cost-Sharing Reductions (CSRs); and use 100 percent of financial help available to them. They must also be enrolled in a Silver-level health insurance plan.
