Congressman’s office ready to offer help as Melissa impacts Jamaica

As Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Jamaica, Congressman John B. Larson’s office launched a web page for residents with loved ones who may be impacted by the storm.

“With Hurricane Melissa expected to make landfall within hours, I stand with everyone across Connecticut’s First District with a loved one at risk in Jamaica,” said Larson. “My office is open and available to assist. I am grateful for the workers at the National Hurricane Center, National Weather Service, and NOAA, who are working without pay during this shutdown to ensure residents continue to receive updates as the storm changes. I urge all U.S. citizens in the Caribbean to heed the State Department’s warnings and shelter in place. U.S. leadership must be ready to act to ensure Jamaica and all our partners in the region can access the assistance they need if and when disaster strikes.”
