Marshall Peter Souza, 62, lifelong resident of East Hartford, died Monday March 9th, 2009 at home. Marshall was a professional chef and owned a catering business, well know to many for volunteering his services at several charitable activities, including working at the VA Stand Down, the Special Olympics, EH Friendship Center soup kitchen, Foodshare and the Manchester conference of churches. He belonged to several organizations, including the Knights of Columbus, Connecticut Chefs Association, and American Culinary Association.
Marshall started his career at Mickey’s Drive In and worked several restaurants to learn his trade. Eventually he ran the East Hartford Golf Course Restaurant from 1984-1987 and started his own catering business. He was well known around East Hartford having an avid interest in local politics and business. He was a member of the Amateur Radio Association with the handle of WB1EEK.
“Petey” will be greatly missed by his family. He was a loving brother and uncle, a generous and sensitive soul.
He leaves his sister, Virginia Souza-Bailey of East Hartford, and his niece and nephew Noreen Souza-Bailey of Brooklyn New York and Ian Souza-Bailey of Vernon.
Funeral arrangements will be private.
