Bryan Wiggins

Bryan Marshall Wiggins, of East Hartford, passed away at home on March 14th, 2024 with his wife by his side.

Bryan Wiggins

Bryan was born November 4th, 1957 in Hartford, son of the late Marshall and Charlotte (Dougal) Wiggins. Bryan was raised in Bellevue Square and later moved to Bellevue Street. He graduated from A. I. Prince Technical High School in 1975, where he studied plumbing as a trade. Bryan immediately went to work to support his family. He worked at The Institute of Living in Hartford until landing a position at Pratt and Whitney of which he gave 44 years of service. During those years, Bryan became a loyal member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Union Lodge 1746 East Hartford, CT until his retirement in 2022.

Bryan was an avid golfer and played in the J C Haley Golf League for many years, winning their annual tournament in 2016. He enjoyed fishing and would fish in the water hazards on the golf course in between holes. Bryan loved to tell jokes and almost every morning as he clocked in, he had a joke to tell to anyone who would listen. He had an infectious personality with a smile to match and was lovingly called “Pop-Pop” by his grandchildren. When he heard “Uncle Bryan” from his nieces and nephews, it made his heart melt. He had so much love for them all. Bryan also enjoyed playing the electric bass guitar and was in awe of musicians who played the stand-up bass.

He believed in the power of prayer and asking the Lord for forgiveness on a daily basis. This is how he began his morning and ended his day while watching the sunset.

Bryan leaves to honor his life, his wife of 18 years and Arsenal elementary school sweetheart Vanessa Jenkins; six children, Olivia Jenkins, Orice Jenkins, Michael Wiggins, Michele Lawrence (James), Jevon Davies and Bryan Bembry; a brother, James Wiggins; two sisters, Margaret Wiggins and Marie Wiggins; 13 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Bryan was predeceased by his son, Marshall Wiggins; brother, Richard Wiggins; sisters, Luanne Wiggins, Fay Wiggins, and Julia Wiggins.

His family will receive friends on Friday, April 5th, 10am-11am, with a Celebration of Life beginning at 11am, at The Lodge Community Chapel, 130 Deerfield Rd., Windsor followed by burial at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield. Please feel free to share your favorite joke, pearl of wisdom or memory about Bryan.
