Irene M. (Tenerowicz) Visintainer, 83, of Glastonbury, and formerly of East Hartford, was reunited in Heaven with her husband Art on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 surrounded by her loving children.

Irene Visintainer

She was the beloved wife of 39 years of the late Arthur M. Visintainer. Born in Springfield March 5, 1939, daughter of the late Edward and Helen (Chrabaszcz) Tenerowicz, she had been a resident of the Glastonbury/East Hartford area for the past 63 years. Irene was a member of the Ludlow High School Class of 1956, and American International College in Springfield where she earned her teaching degree. She obtained Master’s from the University of Hartford.

Prior to retirement, Irene was a wonderful high school business teacher at East Hartford High and Coventry High School. A devout Catholic, Irene was a longtime faithful communicant of St. Christopher Church and St. Paul Church, Glastonbury. She was a member of the East Hartford Woman’s Club where she met many friends and gave back to her community. Irene enjoyed volunteering at the Second Chance Shop in Glastonbury, reading, playing scrabble with close friends and playing Words with Friends – especially with her sister. She was also a loyal fan of both the UConn women’s and men’s basketball teams.

Most of all, Irene was a proud and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished her time caring and supporting her children and grandchildren at sporting events and school activities.

Irene is survived by her son, Michael A. Visintainer and his wife Patricia of Burlington; twin daughters, Michelle L. Payson and her husband Stephen of East Longmeadow; and Donna M. Lussier and her husband Michael of Cheshire. She also leaves her sister, Dorothy Landry of Sterling, VA; five special grandchildren – Matthew Visintainer and his wife Jaci of Simsbury, Sarah Visintainer of Whitman, MA, Abby Visintainer of West Hartford, and Samantha Payson and Seth Payson, both of East Longmeadow, MA; one adored great-grandson, Brody Visintainer of Simsbury; several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
