Carolyn (Johnson) Leone, 79, of East Hartford, loving wife of over 53 years to the late David Paul Leone, peacefully entered into eternal life on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at a local rehabilitation center. Born in Hartford on September 18, 1946, a daughter of the late Irving and Genevieve (Salinski) Johnson, she had been a lifelong resident of the East Hartford/Manchester area. Carolyn attended schools in East Hartford and was a graduate of East Hartford High School, class of 1964.
A devout and faithful woman, Carolyn was a longtime communicant or the North American Martyrs Parish in East Hartford. Her love of caring for children enabled her to work for 34 years as a Paraprofessional with the town of East Hartford Board of Education.
Carolyn was a talented ten-pin bowler who participated in several leagues for many years at Bowl-A-Rama in Newington. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends at the East Hartford Senior Center, Glastonbury Senior Center, and the Army-Navy Club in Manchester. She also liked reading and solving puzzles. A wonderful cook and baker, Carolyn loved preparing dishes and goodies for her family and friends to enjoy, especially at holiday time.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Paula Michelle Britton of Surprise, Arizona; a son, Mark David Leone of Enfield; a sister, Patricia Frank of Wethersfield; three grandchildren, Allissa Claire Parker of Manchester, Morgan Britton of Raleigh, NC, Shawn Britton of Eatonville, WA; her longtime dear friends, Noel Paterno of East Hartford; Pat and Jim LaJoy; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, August 25th with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 am at St. Mary’s Church of North American Martyrs Parish, Main Street/Maplewood Avenue. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on the morning of the funeral mass. Carolyn’s family will receive relatives and friends on Monday evening (August 24th) from 4 – 7 pm at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St.
