Patricia ‘Pat’ Clark, EHHS Guidance Counselor

Patricia (White) Clark, 83, wife of Frederic B. Clark, III for almost 60 years, passed away June 27, 2023 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Dementia, her family by her side.

She was born in Springfield, Mass. on June 3, 1940 to the late James and Julia (Hannifin) White. Pat attended Cathedral High School in Springfield, graduating in 1958. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Our Lady of the Elms College, Chicopee, and two Master’s Degrees at CCSU.

Her first teaching job was in Enfield; then, after marrying Fred and having her children, she continued teaching in East Hartford. Pat ended her career as a guidance counselor at East Hartford High School and Middle School before retiring in 2006. She was very proud of her career and was a favorite to many.

She was an active member of St. Christopher’s Church, the East Hartford Women’s Golf League, and the Glenbrooke Swim and Tennis Club. She loved country line dancing and made countless quilts by hand for friends and family. For 35 years she enjoyed her summers living at the Sun Valley Beach Club in Stafford where she served on the board and hosted many parties for friends and family at site 227.

Pat married Fred in 1963, and lived in East Hartford until moving to Addison Place Memory Care in Glastonbury this past March. Pat was loved by many, as she lit up a room with her smile and twinkling eyes. She made everyone feel comfortable and happy, as she was a complete ‘people person’ and loved talking with people over a cup of tea or lunch.

She is survived by her husband Fred; her son Rick (Frederic B. Clark, IV) and his wife Erica Elizabeth of Wilmington NC; her daughter Meaghan Clark and her husband Jim Murray of East Hartford; and her son Jim Clark and his wife Rita Gesuele of Punta Gorda, FL. She leaves her grandchildren Finn (Frederic B. Clark V) and Zia Elizabeth Clark, Graeden, Kellie, and Sarah Sartoris, and Victoria Anderson; lots of loved nieces and nephews and tons of friends and family.

Pat was predeceased by her parents and her sisters Maureen and Ellen.

The family thanks VITAS Hospice (Penelope and Debra), caretakers Sharen and Pam, and the staff at Addison Place Memory Care (Dawn, Adrian, Colleen, Shanique, Keisha and many others).
