Kevin Robert Casey, 63, of East Hartford passed away peacefully Monday, May 26, 2025 surrounded by his loving family at Salmon Brook Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after a courageous battle with a neurodegenerative disease.

Born February 17, 1962, Kevin was the beloved son of Barbara Smith Casey and the late Bernard J. Casey.
Kevin was a lifelong resident of East Hartford and graduated from George J. Penney High School, Class of 1980. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts along with a Master of Arts in History from Central Connecticut State University. Kevin had many interests and would always love to discuss the latest current events whether it be sports, politics, or major world events. He was a very spiritual individual and was strengthened in his strong devotion to Padre Pio. Kevin also wrote about subjects he admired in his hometown, including a profile of Augie & Ray’s Drive-In which is framed on the wall of the popular breakfast and lunch spot on Main Street.
The youngest of five siblings, Kevin leaves behind his sister, Susan Skipp of Newington; his brothers, Bernard Casey, Jr. (Marcelle) of Wallingford, James Casey (Marcy) of Rocky Hill and Jerome Casey (Donna) of Natick, MA. Kevin was a proud uncle, and is survived by his nieces and nephews: Barry, Laura, Peter, Caitlin, Gregory, Michael, Josh, Sarah, Jake, Samuel, Simon and Amelia; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Besides his father, Kevin was predeceased by his brother-in-law Barry Skipp, Sr.
Kevin’s family would like to extend special thanks to his lifelong friend, Paul Fitzgerald, for the unwavering support he extended to Kevin throughout the years and in his final weeks.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, June 4, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Christopher’s Church, 538 Brewer St. Burial will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery.
Kevin’s family will receive relatives and friends at the church hall on Wednesday morning from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Kevin’s name may be made to the Office of Radio and Television, Archdiocese of Hartford, 15 Peach Orchard Rd, Prospect, CT 06712.
