Pamela (Lyles) Scheinfeldt of Ocean Park, ME and long-time resident of East Hartford died May 27, 2025 at age 77 from complications of Parkinsons’ disease.
She passed peacefully surrounded by family, friends, song, stories and lots of love. A long-time elementary and middle school teacher, Pam taught a generation of East Hartford students, primarily sixth through eighth grade. Pam was always taking care of others – friends, family, students – sharing her compassion, insight and generosity. She was a room parent, PTO leader, Girl Scout troop leader, church choir singer and children’s choir director at First Congregational Church of East Hartford, town election worker, and volunteered in numerous other capacities in and around East Hartford.
Pam received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Central CT State, was an avid bowler and tennis player, had a beautiful singing voice, and shared her musical gifts with a variety of choral and musical theater groups. She loved playing cards, time at the beach, traveling and being Nana to her grandkids.
Pam was the beloved wife of Jerry Scheinfeldt for more than 52 years and devoted mother to Liz Davenny, Lauren Martin, and Mandy Brush. She was doting “Nana” to Nora & Sam Davenny, Jack, Ryan, & Kasey Martin, and Alex & Evan Brush, and loving sister of Christine Williamson and her husband Greg.
Pam is predeceased by her parents, Calvin Lyles and Mary Lou (Fleming) Lyles St. Laurent. She will be remembered fondly by sisters-in-law Karen Howe and Valerie Scheinfeldt, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, as well as numerous cousins, in-laws, great friends, and past students.
A memorial service will be held at First Congregational Church of East Hartford June 21, 2025 at 11 a.m. with a celebration of life to be scheduled this summer in Old Orchard Beach, ME.
