On Sunday August 21, 2022, Gloria M. Juergens of South Windsor passed away at the age of 90.

Gloria was born May 17, 1932 in Hartford to the late Alexander and Tessie Morris. She was a member of St. Peter’s Church in Hartford, from which she graduated 8th grade, sang in the church choir, and where she married in 1964. She graduated from Hartford Public High School in 1950 and, for her first job, worked in the accounts payable department learning early IBM processing for G. Fox & CO. She then worked for the state of Connecticut Department of Labor where she met and married Richard Juergens.

A loving mother to three, Richard, Timothy and Marie, she was an active member of the East Hartford Woman’s Club and enjoyed giving back to the community through volunteering in the East Hartford School Mentoring program as well as helping to establish and maintain the EHWC Scholarship Committee.

She was a communicant of St. Christopher’s Roman Catholic Church here in East Hartford where she also worked in the church rectory and sang in the choir.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; brother, Donald Morris, and sister Joanne Jaycox.

She is survived by her children: Richard of Manchester, Timothy and wife Joanne of Cromwell, and Marie and her fiancé Kevin of East Hartford. She also leaves her sister, Rosemary Butts of New York, two grandchildren – Kurt Juergens and Matthew Juergens – and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday, August 30, 2022 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Rose Hill Funeral Home 580 Elm St. Rocky Hill, CT. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon at St. Edmund Campion church, 544 Brewer St., East Hartford, with burial to follow in the Rose Hill Memorial Park.
