Joyce Samiotis

Joyce (Zoe) Marie Samiotis of East Hartford passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.

Joyce Samiotis

She was born in Hartford October 3, 1937, the daughter of the late Mary Moren and Frank Chogouord.

She is survived by her beloved husband Panagiotis (Peter) Samiotis of 57 years, her brother Peter Anselmo and his wife Jeanne, her nieces Alice Anselmo, Blanche Fellows and Marie Rossi along with their children.

Joyce will long be remembered for her deep love of faith and family. A lifelong parishioner of the St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Hartford and a benefactor of the church, she was always responsive to the needs of her parish and to those of others in a quiet and unassuming way. Often the first to be present at Sunday services, she could always be heard quietly singing and reciting the words of the Divine Liturgy both in Greek and in English.

Her love of family knew no bounds, as she always believed she had been blessed with having two, one in America that was given her at birth, and the other in Greece acquired through marriage, which she loved as her own and now leaves behind.

Joyce had a lasting interest in business and finance and was the Vice President at First Federal Savings and Loan of East Hartford for 26 years. She also served on the Riverpoint Association Board of Directors. Together with her beloved husband, Peter, she led a life of purpose and meaning both at home and abroad. She will be long remembered by the many persons whose lives she touched.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at St George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 433 Fairfield Avenue, Hartford with visiting hours beginning at 9:30 a.m. and the Trisagion and Funeral service to follow at 11.
