Doris Elaine (Davy) Hannon, 89, of Old Saybrook passed away at home Friday, November 24th surrounded by family.

She was born in Goffstown, NH and lived in Bennington, NH, East Hartford and Glastonbury. She was a graduate of East Hartford High School. She retired from Aetna Life Insurance Company after 24 years in various marketing and sales promotion roles.

The joy in her life was her family, raising nine children and enjoying each of her grandchildren and in recent years great grandchildren.

She lovingly leaves behind eight surviving children: Trish Hannon & Don Odell, Margaret Hannon, Beth Hannon, Kathleen Hannon & Reed Risteen, Colleen Hannon & John Young, Thomas & Susan Biske Hannon, James Hannon & Lori McHugh, and Mary-Catherine Hannon & Steve Gauthier.

Additionally, Elaine enjoyed 15 wonderful grandchildren and soon to be 21 great grandchildren. Elaine’s life was very full with the love of her large family, including many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was extremely passionate about her genealogy and DNA research in her retirement years and shared that passion, assisting others in their personal ancestry journey.

Elaine was predeceased by several loved ones, her son David Hannon, grandson Jonathan Redler, her mother Louise Davy, and brothers Herbert and Ernest Davy.

A private celebration of life will be held with her family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hartford Healthcare Backus Center for Diabetes and Metabolism in Norwich, CT, or American Diabetes Association.
